Beau Clark, P.E.
Director of Engineering
Beau Clark is Director of Engineering for Live Oak. He is focused on leading all of Live Oak’s technical efforts including acquisitions and divestitures, new prospect evaluation, and creating integrated data analytics tools that drive operational efficiency and accuracy of evaluations.
Prior to joining Live Oak, Beau spent his career in engineering and finance roles at upstream energy companies and investment management firms. Most recently, Beau held the role of Executive Vice President for Barton Creek Resources, where he focused on engineering and finance for acquisitions. Prior to Barton Creek, Beau served as CFO and Vice President of Engineering at Champion Lone Star, a private equity backed Permian operator. Prior to Champion Lone Star, Beau worked for several years as a buyside upstream analyst at the equity fund The Mitchell Group (2014 AUM $2.4Bn). Beau started his career with Cabot Oil & Gas (now Coterra) in various production, operations, and reservoir engineering roles of progressive responsibility.
Having worked for companies both large and small, and having been in both engineering and investment roles, Beau has gained exposure to nearly every facet of the upstream energy business ranging from technical and operational to commercial and financial. He has directly worked in all the Texas and Louisiana basins and evaluated new opportunities in all of the main US L48 onshore resource plays. Beau has a passion for engineering, investments, and technology which have led him to invest and advise with several successful Energy Industry start-ups.
Beau attended Texas A&M University where he earned both a Bachelors of Science in Petroleum Engineering with a Mathematics Minor and a Master of Engineering in Petroleum Engineering (International Petroleum Management). His Masters focused on finance and the applicability of the Stretched Exponential Decline Model (SEDM) for decline curve analysis. Beau is licensed as a Professional Engineer in the state of Texas.
